Burger blend

sassy seasoning for beefy burgers

Here’s the seasoning mix I add when we make burgers, generally from 85% lean ground beef. I like ground bison but not for grilling — too lean.

Some are purists about their burgers, salt and pepper only, but not me. I like to give the ground beef something to harmonize with. I feel like sneaking those aromatics in is the way to do it.

It makes enough to go in a wee jar for multiple uses, unless you are grilling up enough burgers for an army.

Burger blend

1 Tablespoon each:

  • Kosher salt
  • Cumin
  • Dried shallots
  • Dried oregano (I like Mexican, but I crumble it a bit)

2 teaspoons finely ground black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Mix everyone together nicely. Add 1.5 Tablespoons of Burger blend per pound of burger meat and mix in well with your hands.

Fire up that grill and enjoy!
